Naturopathic Medicine is Good for Wisconsin!

Today (2/4/22) Governor Tony Evers signed a bill to license naturopathic doctors in the state of Wisconsin. The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians reports that Wisconsin becomes the 26th state/territory to license NDs, and that the profession has gained regulation in six states over the last six years.

Allison Becker ND, from the Wisconsin Naturopathic Doctor’s Association Legislative team says, “This marks a very exciting day in history for Wisconsin and for the naturopathic profession as a whole. . . Licensure ensures Wisconsin is a state where NDs can practice with confidence as primary care providers and their patients can be assured their ND is medically trained and safe.”

Trained to treat the whole person, naturopathic doctors help prevent, or diagnose and treat acute and chronic illness. With an emphasis on preventive medicine, NDs can help reverse the trend which leaves more than half of all Americans with a chronic disease. Research shows that addressing modifiable risk factors helps prevent type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and colon cancer, three of the most common causes of death and health care dollars spent in the United States.
